My name is Raoul R. Bessette. My wife of 51 years, Doris Mclean, and I, welcome you to our web site which is dedicated to various aspects of the genealogies of our four families. Namely, the Bessette-Houle-Mclean-Fleming Families that comprise our heritage are represented here. Contained within the site are family trees for the families going back to the 17th century founders of the Bessette and Houle families in Canada. There are narratives tracing each of the families back to their early origins in North America to the present. There is a photo section with albums for each family. There are also numerous family documents of birth, marriage and death of family members going back to the 19th Century. Also incorporated in this site are a collection of family writings and a section devoted to military stories of family members going back to World War 1. All of this and more is contemplated in creating this site which is dedicated to the concept that we are the product of those that have preceded us. Many do not appreciate this and choose to focus on the present only. I truly believe that this is shortsighted and at age 73 have come to understand and appreciate the importance of placing ones self within the greater context of history and heritage.
